What is The Process For Making a Claim?

How far Back Can We Claim Our Petrol Excise Duty ?
We can do a 24 month back claim, separated into eight separate quarters. We can then continue to claim for you quarterly.
Is My Accountant Claiming Petrol Excise Duty?
Your accountant will claim tax and GST through the IRD. Petrol excise duty is a tax applied to petrol at the petrol station and is claimed through the NZTA. Petrol excise duty claims are often confused with the business tax claimed for the use of fuel for your road vehicles. It is VERY uncommon that an accountant would process petrol excise duty claims.
Does It Matter How We Collect And Store Our Petrol?
No; whether you pick it up at the service station in a Jerry Can or have it delivered in bulk, you can still claim.
Do Usage Amounts Matter When Claiming Back Petrol Excise Duty.
Legally you can claim any amount. We have customers who claim as little as 10 litres per week. It soon adds up. You can use the PRC calculator to get an estimate of how much that could be each quarter or year.
What If I Don’t Get A Petrol Refund?
NO CHARGE
